Since the major guitar brands cannot grow their market share by selling more products to more people, they’re again continuing the time-honored tradition of growth through acquisition. In this case, it’s software company Cakewalk.
So what can we expect once this deal is done?
Well, look for Cakewalk to receive no upgrades for the next 30 years or so. However, all buttons on the UI will be colored in gold. Their lower-cost home-user line, Sonar, will be developed in North Korea from now on to save costs, and will record only in 12 bit audio. There’s already a new website in the works for internet users to discuss how greatly superior the old version of Cakewalk was.
